About Us

The New Xanadu is an interdisciplinary reimagining of an art and literary magazine that has been published continuously since 1956 by the English department.  It blends the traditions of Doane University's literary past with the interests and innovations of present faculty and students, to engage creators and creativity, in all its forms, across campus.  

 

The New Xanadu, then, is an emergent and dynamic embodiment of higher education at its applied and experiential best.  It celebrates and showcases Doane University’s interdisciplinary spirit and liberal arts identity, not as a dusty relic of a bygone era but rather as a necessity for our students as they leave our hallways and pathways to rebuild and redefine the industries, institutions, and communities of tomorrow.
